Happy Boxing Day!

We had a nice, quiet Christmas with plenty of turkey to eat and eat and eat. Today the weather has decided to turn nasty - we're getting freezing rain. I'm thankful that we don't have to travel today and feel sorry for those who do.

I managed to take a few photos yesterday.

Not Much Happening . . .

Tomorrow will be the busy day. I do have my turkey thawing, it looks bigger than I remembered it to be when we bought it. That's OK - I LOVE turkey and everything that goes along with the meal.

Tomorrow, I plan on baking a squash pie. Maybe also get a few veggies peeled - that will make Friday less stressful (as far as cooking is concerned).

There isn't much on TV lately. Last night we watched Tom Hanks in "Angel and Demons." What an intense movie - lots going on there. It was enjoyable and both Bruce and I gave it an 8.

From One Kitty to Another . . .

When is a kitty not a kitty? When it's stuffed, of course. This morning, Smoky decided to catch a long nap on the bed. Every day and night, I put a quilt at the foot of the bed for him to lie on. He missed it this morning - here he is cuddled up next to my bed pillow and stuffed animal. Couple of 'buds', I guess.

Can't remember if I mentioned the speaker Bruce bought me for my netbook - it is so tiny!

End of the Weekend!

Ir'a been a quiet one - not much going on. We've stayed in where it's warm and cozy watching TV shows and movies. With Christmas on Friday, the week is going to go by fast. Looking forward to turkey and stuffing Christmas Day! YUM!

Zero This Morning!

Smoky wanted out around 6:30 this morning. After leaving him outside for about five minutes, I got back up and opened the back door. He couldn't get in fast enough. He's refusing to go back out - it's much too cold to be outside for more than a couple of minutes. It's going to be a long winter for him.

Bruce, however, did head out for his morning walk. What an outfit - I rushed to get my camera! Here he is "Nanook of the North."

Later, Smoky followed me around the kitchen, begging for whatever? He is so cute!I think he loves me!

This is our Smoky when he first showed up at our back door - February 2003. What a difference TLC makes!

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas!

This is my new Christmas tree. I bought it when we were in the States! I have wanted a new one since last year so I couldn't resist buying it when I saw it was $150 cheaper than those in Canada! Taxes were cheaper, too!

Finally Got Out of the House ...

To do a little grocery shopping. On the way out the door, I grabbed my camera. I didn't expect to get any great photos - just pictures of snow!

Looking out the back door - probably to check to see where Smoky was.

Heading down our street - looks like the plows haven't been out yet.

Nearby school - kids must all be inside where it's nice and warm.

Our main street - busier than usual.

Plowing the sidewalk.

In line at Tim's - sun is trying to come out.

Heading home - still piles of snow everywhere.

Rounding the corner to our house.

Looks Like We'll be Getting More Snow!

It started snowing again around noon. Not much going on - the Olympic Torch passed through town earlier today, but we didn't head out to see it. I have seen it once before, many years ago (1984) when it passed through Hartford.

Ten Degrees This Morning!

Everything is crunchy, but the sun is shining. Really don't know when we'll get more snow, but I think it might be tomorrow. So far, it's been a quiet day.

It's Been a Quiet Day . . .

The quiet after the storm I guess. This morning, for whatever reason, the settings on my computer went crazy - font was way too small. I reset the font to a larger setting, then the icons on my desktop got huge. As of this moment, the icons have been reduced but the desktop grid is still big - thus a few icons take up a lot of space.

And it is very cold - 18F degrees. Not fit for man or beast (Smoky). He did go out this morning, but once back inside where it was nice and warm, he slept for about four hours. I hope he doesn't wake up again tomorrow at five in the morning.

Looking forward to the weekend and the "Dexter's" finale!

Aftermath and Snowblowing!

In all, I think there was about eight inches of new snow on the ground this morning. Of course, I never miss an opportunity to record our area's first big snow fall of the season - so I grabbed my camera and took a few photos.

Bruce also clears the driveways of two neighbors, both older ladies. Here he is cleaning off Thelma's driveway - she's about 85 and if he doesn't get to it soon enough, she will be out there shoveling.

A couple other pictures showing the snow!

Nasty Day!

Seems we're right in the middle of the snow storm - prediction calls for about a foot. Smoky has already decided he doesn't want any part of it - he's asleep on the back of the couch. Just realized, my camera is a day behind - what happened there?

We're Expecting a Winter Storm!

It is expected to hit sometime tomorrow. I don't know how many inches of snow the weather people are predicting. The ground is already white from snow which fell over the past couple of days.

These are Smoky's tracks in the snow - where does this kitty go at six in the morning? Sometimes he's gone for hours.

It Snowed Last Night!

But not much to really accumulate. Didn't even need to shovel it, but it is cold. Bruce went out for his morning walk - even wore his "Fargo Hat." If I had had my camera handy, I would have snapped a picture.

Glad about the Amazing Race outcome. After the Globetrotters were eliminated, I was for the 'dating couple.' I didn't want the married couple to win - she whined much too much - loved it when she was unable to grab the flowers. As far as the brothers - I wasn't happy about a couple of things they did to the other players. In other words, the best team won. Now on to Survivor!

A Fun Time Saturday Evening!

Bruce's son Rick, had a birthday party for his wife, Sherry, at a community center in a nearby town. For a surprise gift, he booked a February vacation in Jamaica for the two of them. I've never seen anyone so excited - the rest of the night, she was dancing up a storm.
