Another Hot Day!

It's pushing 97F degrees. Smoky is under a tree - trying to find a cool spot. He is clueless to the fact that inside the house, it's nice and cool. He'd better be at the back door wanting in later this evening. I don't want to chase him around the neighborhood trying to get him inside before we leave in the morning.

Trailer is packed - just have to hook it up to the truck. I'm hoping the weekend is much cooler. I don't do well in this hot weather!!!!

It's Hot!

And summer isn't even close. Bruce mowed the lawn and cleaned up the truck. It's too hot for me even to stick my head out the door. I just have a few chores left to do before our trip to Massachusetts, but those can wait until tomorrow morning.

Victoria Day

A great day for a bike ride. After riding through some of Ontario's winding backroads, Bruce came upon a chip stand. Do you want fries? Of course. But this time, we each ordered a 'small.'

Holiday Weekend!

Is going great. Weather has been perfect although today is supposed to be really hot. Our plans - barbecue a rack of ribs. Not on our diets, but one day won't hurt.
Trailer is sparkling clean - just have to put our clothes in it and maybe some food items. Since we can't bring meat, vegetables, fruit and a bunch of other items, across the border - the fridge will probably only have water and soda in it. When we get off the Mass Pike, we'll stop at grocery and liquor stores to stock up before heading to the club in Granby. After that, party on!!!

Still Working on Our Diets!

This is weigh-in day - I'm down 1-1/2 pounds, Bruce is down two pounds. It's a slow process, but we are consistent. I've got to try to keep away from those fattening foods next week when we are in Granby - but the thought of 'buy 1/2 gallon of ice cream and get the second one free' might be too much of a temptation.

Yesterday's Project - Done!

The other day, Bruce bought some lumber to make a shelf for the trailer generator. His plan - build a shelf to get it off the ground so that he can slide it onto the ATV, then drive out to the back of the truck. That way, he won't have to lift it off the ground ever again. Good job, Bruce.

And since the bike was outside, I thought I'd take a picture of it - still looking good.

Some Yard Work Going On . . .

Yes, we decided to do some landscaping around the house. I've wanted a flowering tree in the front yard for years and the other day we actually went to the local nursery and bought a Royalty Crab Apple tree. Bruce dug the hole while I supervised. It was a complicated process - the hole had to be a certain width and depth - then filled with bone meal and top soil. Right now, it's tall and skinny, but I'm hoping it grows tall and wide.

One day when we were in Canadian Tire, Bruce saw a pile of the latest edging that the store is selling. He then envisioned his next project - a planter with tall planter grass growing in it. What's the name of that grass? I don't know. But here is the finished project - I think he did a fantastic job.

Last but not least, today was sunflower seed planting. Again more digging, this time filling the holes with cattle manure! Seeds are just under the surface - they should sprout in a few days.

And here is Smoky rolling around in the dirt. What's with these animals? He then wants in the house looking like a homeless cat with dust and dried grass falling off his body.

Nothing But a Dreary Day!

But the weekend is supposed to be gorgeous. Maybe get the bike out and go for a ride.

I've finished posting our Virginia Vacation pictures. It was fun - a great time. Now to plan for the next one, we're thinking Las Vegas. That's not counting our spring and fall trips to Massachusetts.

Just a few days until we hook the trailer up to the truck and head out - looking forward to seeing my sister.

On Our Way to DC

We decided to take a quick drive around Annapolis.

The next morning, we headed out - first stopping for these pictures, then catching the subway.

My first subway ride.

We took a walk around the Capital Building.

Then walked to the Smithsonian Museums.

This was a stainless steel tree.

Back at the subway station - tired and wanting to find our way back to the hotel as quickly as possible.

Back on the street.

Artwork at a nearby intersection.

Front of our hotel. Our home away from home! We ordered a pizza - delivered!!!

Our Tour of the Norfolk Naval Station

This day, we took two tours - the first was a boat tour. This gave us an awesome view of all the ships from the water. I won't even begin to try and remember all the names. After the boat tour, we went to the Visitor Center at the Naval Station and went on a bus tour.

That's Bruce taking a picture from the bus.
