How great is that!!! Bruce and I sat back and watched as Rob & Shannon did all the work. I could easily get used to that! And dinner was awesome. Shannon made veggie pasta alfredo with leeks and mushrooms. Rob did the salad and even grated the cheese. Good work, guys!

The Days are Slipping By . . .
The end of September is just around the corner, then we have to scramble to get ready for our Las Vegas and west coast vacation. Reservations (flights and hotels) are made, so all we have to do is pack our suitcases.
While we are away, Rob & Shannon will be staying at our house, babysitting Smoky. That certainly will make him happy. More people taking care of his every want! Tuna and kitty treats daily. What a spoiled critter we have!!
The weather has been gorgeous. Yesterday, I noticed there are a lot of trees already changing colors – won’t be long until the leaves are on the ground and everyone is trying to clean up their yards.

Sunflowers!
I thought I’d better get a few pictures of our sunflower crop before the frost got them. This morning it was about 40F degrees so it won’t be long. A few of the flowers are so big that the stalks are dipping towards the ground.
These are at the front of the house - don't know what they are called, but I think they are pretty.

Back to the campground in New York State . . .
>
Also on a ride around Plattsburgh, we found a few interesting spots.
Also found a statue of Champlain -
Upper New York State is noted for it's 'red hots.' Of course we had to try them. Gus' Restaurant is supposed to have the best in the area.
Headed back to the campground, I spotted this old, twisted tree next to a cemetery. Spooky!
And on the way home, there is an area along the St. Lawrence River that has hundreds of these windmills.

Walking Tour in Ausable Chasm
I can’t even remember how many years it has been since Bruce and I have talked about doing the Ausable Chasm tour – at least 16 years. It is an awesome place and thank goodness it was a cooler day when we did it, otherwise I never would have been able to survive the two mile walk. At the end of the chasm, a shuttle bus picked you up to take you back to the Welcome Center.
