Don't Know What Happened . . .

To the other two eggs, but one has survived and seems to be on it's way to getting bigger and flying out of the nest - I think that will be in about two weeks. The baby has already doubled in size since I first peeked in the nest a couple days ago.

Mama Robin!!

This is an update on my robin - it's been about two weeks since we got home from vacation and discovered that a robin had built a nest over our backdoor motion light. Yesterday, I took a stool and mirror so that I could view what was going on in the nest. One egg was about hatched, but there was still some shell on the little bird - the other two eggs were still unhatched. If what I read on the internet is correct - those eggs should hatch over the weekend - and it will be another two weeks before the newly hatched robins fly away.

Fun in the Sun . . .

Yesterday was a perfect day for the barbecue - we drank beer, cooked a prime rib roast and spent some time talking about our next road trip. Of course, Smoky was being his cute-self, so I took that opportunity to get a few pictures.

New to Our Family!

When we arrived home last week, Bruce noticed a nest had been built over our backdoor motion light. Our first check into the nest, there was one egg. Yesterday, I peeked again - three lovely aqua eggs. So far, Mother Robin has managed to keep her eggs warm in spite of our going in and out the door. They should hatch in another week. Then I have to worry about Smoky - I plan on protecting the baby birds - from what I've read, they will be ready to leave the nest in about three weeks. Maybe I can keep Smoky inside until they fly away!

Mid-Week!

It amazes me how quickly the days pass. Yesterday was productive. I cleaned some large plastic containers from inside the trailer, scrubbed the floor and hosed off the rug that we put outside the trailer step. Since we had a few rainy days on our camping vacation - everything was filthy. In about a month, we'll be attending the blue grass festival. In the meantime, my work is done!

I also hung out my new harbor bell - I bought it at L.L. Bean when we were shopping in their Freeport store. North Country Wind Bells crafted the bell - it's exactly like the one hanging on the post on their web page. I've wanted a harbor bell for years. It has a beautiful, haunting tone and I'm hoping our neighbors love it as much as I do!!!

Bruce had his own project going! Removing two walls of old fencing and rebuilding.

The finished walls - I think he did an excellent job.

The Last of Our Adventure!

From Saco, Maine, we found almost a direct route across New Hampshire and Vermont. We saw areas of these states that we've never seen before - very picturesque.

We stopped in South Hero, Vermont for just one night - beautiful campground.

Upper Lake Champlain, bridge crossing from Vermont into New York.

We're Back Home!

I'm now on my desktop with a 100% connection to the internet. Uploading pictures will be EASY!

Here are a few of the pictures we took while in Maine. Portland Head Light was awesome. And yes, it was cold, windy and foggy.

One of the days we were in Maine, we drove to Bailey's Island for a seafood dinner - Cook's Lobster House. Did I mention it was foggy?

Calamari - YUM!

Another day, LL Bean in Freeport. Always a fun place to poke around in.

These beds look so inviting . . .

This one can be yours for $16,000.

Arrived in Saco, Maine

That was yesterday. Today, the sun only appeared for a short time, then disappeared. We pointed our GPS to the ocean with directions to find the Portland Head Light. There, all we could see when looking out over the water was fog. And it was windy and cold. Uploading pictures is impossible, so I'm giving up on that.
