And what better thing to do is head out on the bike, buy some food, and come back for a cookout!
Most cornfields in the area look great. I’m thinking the first of August it should be ready. Love corn-on-the-cob.
And when out on the bike, you just have to stop for fries. Chips stands are plentiful in the area. Eat them with white vinegar and sea salt. Lots of it.
Back on the road, we passed a flea market. The area used to have a huge one every Sunday – crowds going to them seem to have found other things to do.
At the grocery store, we were shocked at the price of scallops. Decided not to buy them, we’ll wait until we’re back in Massachusetts and shopping at Costco’s. These are stuffed squid – filling is squid and crab.
It had been awhile since we’ve used one of these machines – had to be retrained.
Bike in the parking lot – note the blue cooler to transport our seafood.
Squid done on the grill in foil. It was OK!
On Monday, we put a prime rib roast in a Dutch oven – placed it on the grill to cook. Meal was delicious, clean up not so good. I can see now why I don’t use it when camping – one needs lots of water, soap and a large sink!
After cleaning, we oiled the pot and put it away for future use!
Tomorrow is the Fourth of July and watching the Boston Pops on TV.
