This day, we planned on touring the Hoover Dam, but arriving there, we were told the dam tours were canceled due to elevator maintenance. Since Lake Mead is just north of the Hoover Dam, we headed there. Entering the park, we pretty much were the only ones on the road. Over the years, the water level in the lake has dropped almost 100 feet.
As we drove along, Bruce noticed a fence about 10 inches high that followed the road. He wondered what the fence was for - I told him it was to keep the rocks from moving around the desert. {Smile} On the way out, he stopped at the guard station to inquire. The fences are to keep the desert tortoises from wandering onto the road.
Back at our hotel, we decided to head up the tower -
